Our weekly slot in which we point you in the direction of other great happenings and events in our great city. A new exhibition, a gig, a museum, a pop-up-shop – the best of London within a few minutes of a London Walks walking tour.
The Rolling Stones 50 Years
A Photographic Exhibition
They’ve been together now for 50 years – and this photographic exhibition commemorates that wild (well, mostly wild) half century of The Rolling Stones.
Of particular note are the shots from the 1960s – before Altamont, before tax exile, before “The Human Laboratory”, before that Knighthood, back when the Rolling Stones and London were inexorably linked. And London provides a fascinating backdrop to many of the shots – our favorite pic is of Mick and his pranged Aston Martin DB6 on Great Titchfield Street.
London’s finest? Er… not quite. Mick and Keith were from Kent and Brian from Cheltenham. We can even dispute the genuine London credentials of Bill and Charlie (Penge and Kingsbury, respectively). But in the 60s, they made the capital their own in a way that only Paul McCartney of The Beatles did.
Kings of the King’s Road? No question. And they look SO young. And their hair looks SO SHORT.
A must see exhibition – with only one week left to do so.
