Yes, we all have Constitutional rights to slaughter the animals, cut the forest, stamp out the grass, and wash away the soil. But I guess the photo says enough.

At dawn this morning, Idaho gun-lovers began a contest to kill as many wolves and coyotes as possible – with prizes of $1,000 each for the overall winners and rifles for winners in the 10-13 and 14-17 age categories.

The Predator Hunting Contest and Fur Rendezvous is organized by a group calling itself ‘Idaho for Wildlife,’ which claims on its website to be “dedicated to the preservation of Idaho wildlife.”  This seems pretty incompatible with the three days of mass slaughter, and the second mission of the group:

“To fight against all legal and legislative attempts by the animal rights and anti-gun organizations who are attempting to take away our rights and freedoms under the constitution of the United States of America.”

Clearly, the right to kill for kicks trumps the animal’s right NOT to be hunted and slain for cash.
