Iceland Air Offers Great Packages

By Travellingtheworld

Iceland’s national carrier Iceland Air is offering special packages to that Scandinavian country that are very tempting. During certain periods through end of April, 2014, a round-trip from major Canadian and US hubs to Iceland’s capital Reykjavik for two days with accommodation at selected four-star hotels and breakfast can be had for as little as 700 dollars.

For example, between Nov 1-Dec 15 and then between Jan 6-Apr 30, 2014, a package  including the round-trip and a two-night stay at the four-star Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura in a double room will cost just $ 679.00. In comparison, a test booking for late November came up to close to $ 600.00 just for flight.

The current package includes the following:

  • Air transportation in Economy Class from Toronto (YYZ), Halifax (YHZ)  New York (JFK),  Boston (BOS) ,  Washington DC (IAD), Denver International Airport (DEN) and Seattle (SEA).
  • Two nights at either Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura or Hilton Reykjavik Nordica in a standard room
  • Scandinavian buffet breakfast daily except on arrival day
  • Fuel surcharge and booking fee

It excludes the following:

  • Personal travel insurance.
  • Meals during flights.
  • Round-trip airport/hotel transfers (about $42 pp round-trip)

The packages contain the following conditions:

  • Each night of the trip must be in hotels booked through Icelandair Holidays prior to departure
  • Additional hotel nights available only for Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura and Hilton Reykjavik Nordica
  • Packages are non-refundable
  • A $400 change fee-per person applies to changes made up to 30 days before departure.  Bookings cannot be changed 29 days or less prior to departure

With its volcanoes, geysers, rapidly changing weather and desolated landscape, Iceland has much to offer for visitors. I will be there in a week though July is considered the busiest period of the year.

But in the fall/autumn, one could see the Northern Lights.

There are also many other interesting things to do and see in Iceland, and some of them are listed by Iceland Tourism.
