Ice Skating @ Frost Village, Sunderland

Hello Freckles Ice Skating Frost Village Keel Square SunderlandI enjoy ice skating, though I can't say I'm particularly good at it - I don't get enough practice when I'm lucky if I go once a year! So when I was invited along to Sunderland's Frost Village to go skating, I was both excited and a bit worried in case I was more like bambi than I remembered.Hello Freckles Ice Skating Frost Village Keel Square SunderlandHello Freckles Ice Skating Frost Village Keel Square SunderlandHello Freckles Ice Skating Frost Village Keel Square Sunderland ChristmasHello Freckles Ice Skating Frost Village Keel Square Sunderland Christmas Outdoor RinkHello Freckles Ice Skating Frost Village Keel Square SunderlandWhen I was in Berlin almost 2 years ago, we went skating around alexanderplatz and it was only 5 euro each for as long as we wanted on the rink. Now, if you think about how much it would cost you to skate outside Somerset House in London, or even the Natural History Museum, you're probably looking at £20, right?

If you're looking to skate on the outdoor rink in Keel Square, it'll cost you £7.50 as an adult (or around £20 for a family ticket - more details here) and that gets you up to an hour on the rink (with a minimum of 45 minutes) I don't think that's particularly badly priced, whether you're wanting to do something a bit different, with friends, you've got a date coming up or you want to take the family along. There's a bunch of stalls around the rink too so you can get mulled wine, hot chocolate and crepes afterwards too.

Alternatively, you can admire the water feature; there's different coloured lights and their height is dependent on the wind. It's pretty cool - to me at least! If lights and water isn't your thing, there's a funfair across the road on the old Vaux Brewery site.

I had a lovely night with Katy, trying to remember how to skate and we both did pretty well! The rink is open until Christmas Eve so if I can, I might have to try and pop back, and head across to the funfair too!

Thanks to Sunderland BID for inviting me along. I'm pleased to say I'm actually not that bad at skating!
