iBanks.com Takes Another Price Cut

Posted on the 11 August 2018 by Worldwide @thedomains

iBanks.com has been around the block, the domain closed today on GoDaddy auctions at $4,550. This is the second time the name has taken a price cut over the last decade.

The name registered in 1997 sold on Sedo for $38,000 on 4-3-2008. Then on this day 3 years ago the domain closed at $7,877, now to be fair it did not change hands, I have emailed Michael Sumner as he might want to remove that entry, although I think for our research here it’s always an interesting data point as the auction ran it’s full course. Without the research here into the name most would have thought it was a real sale.

Back in 2015 you had a longer time to transfer out or renew. So I don’t know if this time the registrant Justin Komhyr will still be able to save the name again.

With the new rules implemented at GoDaddy last November this name should now go to the new owner.

GoDaddy Auctions

Now some people mention they are still having names taken back after an auction closes, That most likely is coming from another registrar that sends GoDaddy auctions their expired domains to auction off. GoDaddy can not impose it’s will on that registrar’s TOS with their customers.

The name has been listed at Afternic with a $75,000 buy it now.
