The Republicans in the House of Representatives has barred Rep. Steve King for his defense of white supremacy. This is not the first time King has showed his racism. He has a long history of racist statements. But this one made national news, and could not be ignored (as they have done so many times in the past).
Are we supposed to be impressed by this action by the House GOP? Are we supposed to believe the Republican Party has reformed, and no longer supports racism? I think not. They are just playing political games. They saw suburban voters leave them in droves in the last election, and they threw them a bone.
If they truly wanted to purge racism from the party, they would change their policies. They aren't doing that. If they truly believed white supremacy was evil and un-American, they would not support (or cover up the misdeeds) of the white supremacist living in the White House. They aren't doing that.
There's a reason why racists and white supremacists feel at home in the Republican Party, and the Republican officials aren't going to do anything to cost them those votes.
I'm not impressed by the House GOP caucus barring King from committees. It's just another flagrant display of Republican hypocrisy!
