I'm a Christian, I love the Lord, I meditate on His word day and night, and can preach the word like my late husband (he trained me well... lol) and yes I got the COVID vaccine.
So why as a Christian did I get vaccinated? Because in Matthew 22:39 God instructs us to love thy neighbor as thyself. As i read in Kentucky Today, the principle here is COMMON GOOD!
Some of us approach the idea of getting vaccinated thinking only of ourselves , saying things like," God got me."
Here is the problem with that selfish mindset. Yea I said it. There are other people we should be thinking about. People who can't take the vaccine (like expectant mothers) or people who may not have access to it yet that could still be infected by those who refuse to get the vaccine.
Back to COMMON GOOD: the principle here is benevolence, love, care for others, laying down personal priorities for the service of others. That's how true #christians roll. .. and that is why as a proud Christian woman I got vaccinated because it's never about me but about doing GOOD for others. On another note I've seen 1st hand the impact contracting this deadly virus can have on families.... specifically mine. You can read HERE about my beloved husband, Pastor Ernest E. Slaughter, Sr. who died from the coronavirus on January 23rd, 2021.
