I just watched Mayor Bloomberg board a helicopter in DUMBO, and head out over the city, to assess the damage. I started to cheer for him, but no one joined me. They should have. He deserves it, for keeping the city in a state of general order.
On this side of Brooklyn, in my elevated upper crust neighborhood, there’s little damage. But from our vantage point, we can see that the lights are still out in downtown Manhattan. Even in the daytime, it looks eerie.
