I Heart Mexican, Especially Accompanied by Micheladas...

By Boberika @boberika

With the colder weather making it mark here in the UK, I'm loving the spicy flavours of Mexican food to keep me warm from the inside out. Barrio Chino was definately a highlight on my on NYC food trail trip, as it was orginal and tasty. Named for its location Barrio Chino (which means 'Chinese hood' in Spanish) is located in the southern section of the Lower East Side where Chinese and Hispanic cultures cross. The decor incorporates Asian accents like colorful hanging paper lanterns and Chinese portraits in an airy space with exposed brick walls create an atmospheric space. I was really impressed by Barrio Chino which has a varied, authentic menu made with fresh ingredients and flavour. The creamy jicama-laced guacamole (and homemade chips) were a tasty starter to accompy the Enchiladas Arrachera and Micheladas (beer cocktail), which is a new favorite and goes so well with spicy food…
