The style of humor remind me of the cartoon Invader Zim. Did anyone else watch that as a kid?
Gertrude’s personality is tone down in this volume however, I still like it. It may not be a banger but, the humor is absurdly funny.
I like the different ways Gertrude tries to get out of fairyland backfire. In defense of the second volume not being as good as the first one. It naturally lowers the expectation of the ending. If you have hit after hit its it going to make you believe the ending to be greatest and best thing ever. More times then that it does not deliver.
If you like the humor in Invader Zim and want something more matured then check out the first volume to I hate Fairyland.
