To support the projected growth of population in cities, nations need to look for more sustainable way to facilitate the growth of their cities though innovations such as technology.
LG Connect 2018 Asia is a showcase of LG's latest commercial displays and home solutions and a visit to the event has allowed me to understand how the Korean company has been using its latest technology to drive digital transformation solutions to revolutionize how we work and live.
Seeing a much smaller scaled version of the breath-taking LG OLED Canyon that was first showcased at CES 2018 earlier, I was amazed by what LG could create with its Open Frame OLED displays in a mix of concave and convex configuration. In an ever increasingly competitive market like a shopping mall, such technology could transform any space into a canvas for effective advertising to draw attention of shoppers and increase footfall in.
The star of LG Connect 2018 Asia was the 55-inch transparent OLED signage, which in my opinion marked the start of a display evolution that until now could only be realized in sci-fi movies ,such as the likes of Star Track and Star Wars.
For now, w
ith its razor-thin bezels and elegant form factor, it could provide retailers with specular and unique product display to create all-enveloping and enthralling visuals, allowing for inventive messaging and product placement.Away from the focus on retail sectors, LG Connect 2018 Asia also showcased several smart solutions leveraging on its advancement in commercial displays. One such solution was targeting the airport operators with LG's 32:9 format, 86-inch Ultra Stretch display that could improve passengers' experience in information gathering such as accurate flight information without any distracting glare, thanks to its anti-reflection feature and wide single screen display that can fit a lot of information including icons, images, and wayfinding arrows, into one screen.
For hospitality, LG's smart solutions could shape a memorable VIP treatment that aimed to delight all guests, in turn helping the establishments to build brand loyalty.
Take the Video Wall, a customized on-demand personal gym content, which featured four LG's 0.9mm even bezel Ultra HD smart displays assembled into one, allowing the user to remain focused on the visual "personal" gym workout instruction and not be distracted by the edges of the adjoining displays.
These innovations, including LG digital ecosystem for home - SmartThinQ - will supercharge the end-user experience across retail, hospitality, transport and residential sectors and revolutionize the way people of smart nations work and live.
