A young mother who was taking her six-year-old daughter on a push cycle to the pre-school from home was beheaded yesterday morning at around 7.15 am.
Police said that her husband had come on a motorcycle, stopped her bicycle and stabbed her with a sharp weapon. She died on admission to the Polpithigama hospital.The deceased has been identified as J.G. Dinushika Maduwanthi (32) of Wadupolayagama.Her remains has been kept at Polpithigama Base Hospital and the Mahawa Magistrate is to be conduct magisterial inquiry today.Investigations are on to arrest the suspect.
