Story: Hunt Club starts when Cassandra (Suvari) gets invited to a special hunting weekend by Carter (Van Dien). He has arranged a hunt for the wealthy on a remote island for years and makes plenty of money doing so.
Carter has put together a group of hunters from different backgrounds who are looking to assert their masculinity. They have been taking women to this island to hunt, but Cassandra is unlike any woman they have faced before.
Verdict on Hunt Club
Hunt Club is an action thriller following a woman drawn into a trap created by insecure alpha men. However, the tables are turned on the hunters by a couple of vengeful bounty hunters.
This is a movie that gets to show how toxic masculinity has become in the world. We have seen the ideas of human hunting in the past, with this bringing the same ideas to the table. It has a range of weapons and the trapping of victims along the way. Despite the message being strong, most of the movie goes down the same direction we have seen before. The performances from Mena Suvari and Casper Van Dien are the highlights of the movie on the performance side of things too.
Final Thoughts – Hunt Club is a by-the-book action movie with a nice revenge message.
