It looks like Huawei is planning to update the Watch GT 2 with a feature that was missing in the original, without changing too much else.
WinFuture's Roland Quandt shared pictures of the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro. According to the leaker, the wearable offers support for wireless charging of Qi, which the GT 2 lacked.
It doesn't seem like there are many other changes in the GT 2 Pro. Quandt says the wearable will have a 1.39-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 454 x 454. That's the same display that you get with the GT 2.
He says the wearable will also include 4GB of internal storage, GPS tracking, and a 455mAh battery that can work for around 14 days on a single charge. Again, these are all hardware specifications that you can find on the current GT 2.
While wireless charging was something we would have liked to have had on the GT 2, it wasn't what the wearable was holding back for us.
Compared to Wear OS, WatchOS, and even Samsung's Tizen, the Huawei Lite OS felt like it didn't have that many features. Third party integration with Huawei Health was another problem. These could be things Huawei tried to address with the GT 2 Pro, but Quandt didn't talk about certain software improvements. It looks like we should have a chance to see the software for ourselves soon enough. According to Quandt, the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro will hit the market in Germany in the next few weeks and cost around 280 euros. Not a word about prices and availability in other countries. We will let you know when we learn more about the wearable.
