Huawei is the third largest smartphone maker by the global marketshareand they have just unveiled two new flagship handsets, the 5.2 inch P9 and 5.5 inch P9 Plus at an event in London today.

With a lot of companies competing to bring up a standard market for them Huawei has brought in a notable feature by which there are two lenses on the rear, sitting next to the Leica brand. The Leica branding has been given as the camera has been “co-engineered” with the veteran optics maker.

Though the global market for smartphones had reduced considerably after the flourishing bloom, Huawei has managed to buck the trend and outstrip rivalsas it had reported the best ever performance last year. And now this time Huawei is evidently hoping to further ramp up its brand visibility by sticking the nostalgic Leica name on the rear of its phones.

Though this technology is one that had faced a huge failure some years back Huawei has brought it in again with much confidence claiming that it will enhance photography via improved color/clarity, and support features such as refocusing after the fact For this the Huwaei P9 and P9 Plus have one RGB and one monochrome lens to support the various photo enhancements being touted. Each lens has a 12 megapixel sensors.

And the claim by Huawei is that the combination of twin yet different lenses allows the devices to capture more light and thus deliver better looking photos. It also says the twin lenses support a wide aperture mode that lets in more light and more light typically means better photos.

However the proof of such claims will of course be in the testing/reviewing. With the best features like fingerprint sensor, 4g and a whooping 3000mah battery loaded the Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 plus will go on sale starting in Europe and the Middle East on April 16, with pricing in Euros set at 599 for the 3GB + 32GB variant of the P9 or 649 for the 4GB + 64GB variant; and 749 for the P9 Plus with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage.

With victory their way in the last year now the Huawei P9 and P9 plus will lay the platform for the company’s success this year
