Rocket Lab today launches a carpooling mission that includes seven small satellites from a number of different companies, including the main payload provider Canon, which is piloting a satellite equipped with the terrestrial imaging technology of the camera manufacturer, including including high resolution photo capture equipment. The Electron rocket that Rocket Lab is piloting today will also carry five Planet SuperDove Earth observation satellites, as well as a CubeSat for space missions.
The launch, which is called 'Pics or It Did not Happen', must take place during a window that opens at 5:19 p.m. EDT (2:19 p.m. PDT) and continues until 6:03 p.m. EDT (3:03 p.m.). PM EDT), taking off from Rocket Lab launch complex 1 on the Mahia peninsula in New Zealand. This is Rocket Lab's third flight this year, and although the company is still developing and testing its rocket propellant recovery program, this mission will not include any attempts to recover propellant. This is the company's 13th Electron flight, and the next test planned in the development of this system is planned for flight 17.
