The day to celebrate our freedom is here. Sadly, it the celebrations will be a little less free this year. COVID-19 pandemic has made us all prisoners. But don't let it damper the spirit of celebration!

On India's Independence Day, we don't just celebrate a date. We celebrate the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. We celebrate the courage of our soldiers and martyrs. And our culture, our traditions, our faith. We celebrate our unity in diversity, and our uniqueness. We celebrate our glorious history as well as our promising future. On 15 th August, we celebrate Bharat.

This year, with the necessity to maintain social distancing and staying at home, the festivities won't have their usual fervor. But here's one way you can celebrate Bharat's Independence Day while sitting at home.

To mark our 74th Independence Day, Snapchat has launched a virtual flag hoisting experience. This even includes tricolour confetti showers through Snapchat's Independence Day special lens!

This innovative lens is created by one of Snap's Official Lens Creators in India, Mr Jagmeet Singh. Using it is simple and fun.

How to use Snapchat's Independence Day Lens

  1. First of all, raise your hand in a salute. This will activate the Snapchat's Independence Day lens.
  2. Once the lens is activated, India's flag gets raised
  3. You will get a face lens showing Indian tricolours
  4. While you use Snapchat's Independence Day lens, the tri-color confetti showers in the background
