Some Control: Resonant cosmetics are tied to Twitch drops, NVIDIA promotions, preorders, mailing campaigns, beta testing, specific platforms, or regional promotions. Once those opportunities end, the usual way to obtain certain items may no longer be available. Two separate tools can restore supported content, but they use different methods and do not necessarily affect the same items.
This guide covers the supported cosmetics, the two restoration methods, installation, save backups, configuration options, save selection, Linux details, and troubleshooting.

What Content Can Be Restored?
Some single-player content and cosmetics are connected to limited-time campaigns, platform offers, regional promotions, or other entitlements. That includes Twitch drops, NVIDIA promotions, preorders, mailing promotions, and a beta tester reward.
Two tools are available for supported content:
- Control Resonant Save Patcher: a standalone utility that edits a supported save.
- Dylan Wardrobe Unlocker: a DLL mod that loads when the game starts and uses a configuration file to select supported items.
The two methods work differently and do not necessarily restore the same items. A DLL and an executable are both programs that run code, so neither format should be treated as safer than the other.
Back up your files before using either method.

What version 1.2.0 actually covers
This list applies to Save Patcher version 1.2.0. It is not a promise to unlock every cosmetic in Control: Resonant.
The patcher also handles the associated applied-entitlement entries and retains automatic backups, selection of the newest save, checksum handling, and the optional --check mode.

Which Restoration Method Should You Use?
The two tools use different methods.
Control Resonant Save Patcher
The Save Patcher is a separate, open-source utility that edits a supported save. Its supported items are fixed by the patcher version, and it does not require winmm.dll.
It also creates a backup when it patches a save and includes features such as newest-save selection, checksum handling, and the optional --check mode.
Dylan Wardrobe Unlocker
The DLL method loads when the game starts and uses cr_cosmetics.ini to let you select which supported items to modify.
Choose the DLL method when individual item selection through a configuration file is the priority. Choose the Save Patcher when you prefer a separate save-editing utility with a fixed supported-item list.
Whichever method you choose, make a backup first.

Method A: Control Resonant Save Patcher
Control Resonant Save Patcher is a standalone open-source utility that patches supported saves. Version 1.2.0 restores the 14 known item flags listed above.
Version information
The repository owner reported that version 1.2.0 was tested and confirmed working with the current game version on September 27, 2026. The analyzed game executable version was 0.563.737.9.
Future game updates may affect compatibility.
Install the Windows version
- Close the game.
- Open your Steam save folder.
- Make your own copy of the save folder.
- Download
CosmeticSavePatcher.exefrom the repository’s Releases page. - Place the executable in the Steam remote folder beside the save files.
- Double-click the patcher.
- Read the result before pressing Enter to close it.
- Start the game and load the patched save.
An example save path is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[Steam-ID]\3669870\remote
The patcher creates an automatic CosmeticSaveBackup-... folder when it patches a save.
Windows download: CosmeticSavePatcher.exe
How save selection works
The patcher selects the newest complete save set in its own folder based on the date stored inside the save. It does not search subfolders.
If you want to patch a particular save instead, follow the project’s save-selection instructions and keep that save’s four matching files together.

Method B: Dylan Wardrobe Unlocker
Dylan Wardrobe Unlocker is a DLL mod that loads when the game starts. Its cr_cosmetics.ini configuration file lets you choose which supported items to change.
Archived download
The original mod page is no longer available. The available copy is an unofficial preservation archive.
Download: Google Drive archive
The archive was scanned and no security vendors flagged the file as malicious. That result is reassuring, but it is not a guarantee of safety. Use the mod at your own risk and back up your saves first.
Install the DLL
- Close the game.
- Back up your saves.
- Find and open the game folder containing
CONTROLResonant.exe. - Place
winmm.dllandcr_cosmetics.iniin the same folder. - Do not place them in the save folder.
- If another
winmm.dllis already present, check what installed it before replacing it. - Open
cr_cosmetics.iniin a text editor before starting the game.
An example game path is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\CONTROL Resonant\
Choose which items to modify
The configuration uses three possible values:
trueto unlock an itemfalseto leave an item unchangedlockto remove its unlock status
Use lock only when you want to remove an item’s unlock status. The change should be treated as permanent, so keep your backup.
Save the configuration, start the game, and load the save you want to modify. Check the wardrobe afterward.
If cr_cosmetics.log appears, you can use it to see what changed.
Changes are stored in the save
The configuration states that changes are stored in the save when it loads. Removing the DLL or setting an option back to false does not automatically undo an unlock that has already been applied to that save.

winmm.dll without first checking which program or mod installed it.
Linux and Steam Deck
A Linux x64 version of CosmeticSavePatcher is available. The installation and save-folder steps use the project’s Linux setup guide and Steam/Proton save-folder guide.
What is confirmed
A Linux user reported that the executable ran successfully from the Steam userdata save folder. That does not confirm in-game results, identify a Linux distribution, or establish Steam Deck compatibility.
Back up your saves before trying the Linux version.
Save selection still matters
The patcher looks for the newest complete save set in its own folder and does not search subfolders. To patch a specific save, follow the project’s save-selection instructions and keep its four matching files together.

Troubleshooting and Backups
Both methods can fail when files are placed in the wrong location, a conflicting DLL is present, or the wrong save is selected. The safest approach is to check the installation and restore your backup when necessary.
The DLL method does not work
Confirm that winmm.dll and cr_cosmetics.ini are beside CONTROLResonant.exe. Review the options in the configuration and check for cr_cosmetics.log.
Do not overwrite another mod’s winmm.dll without investigating a possible conflict.
The Save Patcher reports an error
Make sure the patcher is beside the save files, that the selected save has a complete set of four matching files, and that the game and save version are supported.
The patcher stops instead of modifying unsupported or invalid save layouts.
The wrong save was patched
The patcher selects the newest complete save set in its folder. To work on a specific save, follow the project’s save-selection instructions and keep the correct four matching files together.
Undo a save patch
Close the game and restore the four files from the patcher’s CosmeticSaveBackup-... folder.
If you used the DLL method, restore the save backup you made before loading the game with unlocks enabled.
Tool ownership
The original author of the Dylan Wardrobe Unlocker is currently unknown. Its original mod page is no longer available, and the available archive is an unofficial preservation copy.
The Control Resonant Save Patcher is created and maintained by Gh0stR1pp3r. Use the original repository for releases, documentation, updates, and issue reports.

Conclusion
Restoring supported Control: Resonant cosmetics involves choosing between two different approaches. The Save Patcher works on supported saves and has a fixed item list, while the Dylan Wardrobe Unlocker uses a DLL and configuration file to select supported unlocks.
The technical details matter more than the cosmetic reward itself. Back up your saves, place each file in the correct location, check which items your chosen method supports, and remember that changes already written to a save are not necessarily reversed by removing the tool.
