How to Unclog the Sink with the Bottle Trick?

This trick is as simple as it is effective for unclogging your sink. To do this, you just need to combine a few ingredients and you’re done. You will therefore need:

  • A water bottle ;
  • 2 glasses of white vinegar;
  • A cup of coarse salt;
  • A cup of baking soda.

First, using a funnel, pour the salt into the water bottle. Then gradually add the white vinegar and baking soda. Close the bottle, and shake it to mix all the ingredients and obtain a homogeneous solution. At last, pour the resulting mixture into the sink and let it act for a few minutes. Thus, you will see a chemical reaction that will unclog the sink and eliminate the various residues causing the clog. Leave it on for about half an hour, to make sure all the residue has disappeared. Once the process is complete, open your faucet. As a result, the water will flow very fluidly and the bad odors will have disappeared.

If this solution can be very effective, it is mainly thanks to the properties of the basic ingredients. Indeed, white vinegar has anti-limescale and descaling properties, while baking soda through its abrasive action, manages to eliminate the residues the most tenacious in a short time. Salt, meanwhile, also has a strong anti-limestone power.

Other methods to unclog clogged drains

There are other tricks that can come to your rescue in case of clogged drains. Based on easy-to-find ingredients, they can be used to unclog your pipes and thus solve your problem.

Citric Acid: Descaling, draining and cleaning, citric acid is an ecological ingredient with properties similar to white vinegar. Allowing to clean in depth, you will no longer need to resort to chemicals. To apply it, nothing could be simpler! Dilute 150 grams of citric acid in a liter of lukewarm water then add 250 grams of baking soda. Wait a few seconds, then pour your solution down the sink. Let the mixture act then pour a pan of hot water to eliminate the last remaining residues.

Salt and Baking Soda: Useful for household maintenance, the combination of salt and baking soda is just as effective when it comes to unclogging pipes. For that, pour 200 grams of baking soda and 200 grams of salt in the sinkthen slowly pour boiling water and leave to act.

Coffee grounds: Although the use of this ingredient may seem incongruous to you, it is nonetheless effective. In effect, the coffee grounds not only unclog the sink but also eliminate all unpleasant odors due to clogging. Just pour a cup of coffee grounds into your sink and then add boiling water to it. This will unclog the piping and make the water flow more fluid.
