How to Stop Jawline Acne Pimples

By Menscience

Few things are as annoying as those pesky acne bumps that show up on or around the jawline as adult jawline acne. People who have to wear helmets for sports or for their jobs are most prone to this type of acne, as are those who wear dental headgear for sleeping.

Straps and headgear can cause an increase in perspiration in the local jawline area, and this can encourage widespread bacteria growth inside the pores that are located there. The pores get clogged when the perspiration mixes with the natural oils that form in the skin and, along with dead skin cells, cause the area to form unsightly whiteheads and blackheads. In some cases, these areas can develop into staph infections.

There are a number of steps that one can take in order to combat jawline acne:

Stop smoking

Jawline acne occurs most often in individuals who smoke. The best thing a smoker can do, not only for jawline acne, but for the entire body, is to stop smoking immediately.

Avoid Sodium Laurel Sulfate

Many toothpastes and mouthwashes contain Sodium Laurel Sulfate, otherwise known as Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate or SLS. Studies have shown that people who use products such as mouthwashes and oral rinses that contain SLS , are more apt to get jawline acne. Read product labels to ensure that this ingredient is M.I.A.

Wash Your Face in the Shower

When people stand in front of a sink to wash their faces, it is common for residue to be left around the jawline; this residue can eventually clog your pores and contribute to a breakout. It is much better to use a good face wash in the shower because the cleanser is more likely to be completely rinsed from the face by the shower heads.

Let it Be

It is tempting to pop the infected whiteheads and blackheads when they appear around the jawline, but this can actually exacerbate the problem. Acne has the capacity to leave scars on the face if it gets too bad, so it is best to treat the skin gently at all times. Do not pick or squeeze any of the infected area. Apply some Acne Spot Repair or Acne Therapy Lotion to clear up these zits fast.

Watch your Diet

Be careful not to consume too much sugar, especially that found in acidic sodas or in coffee. Sugar may trigger hormones that trigger acne breakouts. Try to drink plenty of water and to eat lots of organic fresh fruits and fresh leafy greens each day.
