An accident quickly happened while tasting your glass of red wine. On your shirt, your pants, on the carpet or even on the tablecloth, the wine stain becomes embedded and seems difficult to remove. Lemon can be particularly effective in removing tough stains from fabrics. First, soak the garment in cold water and then wring it gently. Then squeeze a lemon. Pour a sufficient quantity of this juice on the port wine stain and let it act. Thanks to its acidity and antibacterial power, this natural ingredient is able to unclog the most stubborn stains. Then sprinkle the stained area with a teaspoon of salt and rub the fabric with your fingers to make the crystals penetrate. Leave on for a few minutes then rinse the stain. Gently wring out the fabric and then wrap it in a clean towel to remove excess moisture. Repeat this if necessary adding a tablespoon of liquid detergent, if necessary. Once the stain is gone, wash the fabrics as usual in the washing machine or by hand. Finally, it is advisable to place the fabric in the open air to take advantage of the stain-removing properties of the sun.

If the wine has just been spilled, you can use the salt alone. Blot the fabric with a clean cloth or tissue before covering the stain with this ingredient. In a short time, this ingredient absorbs the red spot.

This first tip is particularly effective in removing wine stains from white fabrics. To start, cover the stained area with half a cup of white vinegar. Then pour a tablespoon of liquid detergent on the red marks. Then let it sit on the fabric overnight. The vinegar will thus neutralize the stain while the detergent will complete the wash.

  • Use hydrogen peroxide and dish soap to remove wine stains

Another trick is to remove wine stains from fabrics by mixing 3 parts hydrogen peroxide to 1 part dish soap. Apply to the stained area then quickly rinse off the solution as the peroxide can bleach colored clothes. Then wash the wine-stained laundry as usual.

For wine stains that have dried, you can use baking soda. This multi-purpose product is also effective in removing stubborn stains from fabrics. For this you will need:

  • 4 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1 liter of water

In a basin or a bucket, mix the two aforementioned ingredients. Then immerse the garment in the solution and let it sit. Then rinse the fabric with water and put it in the washing machine for a normal wash cycle.

Removing wine stains can be a tedious task. Keep in mind that wine-stained fabrics should never come in contact with heat. This could indeed fix the red color and make it permanent.
