It is best to remove pet stains just after the occurrence of the accident. However, sometimes it may happen that you were not at home and your dog has urinated. In such a case, you can use household products like baking soda and vinegar to get rid of the stain. If those products are unable to help you remove your stains from the carpet, then you can try using commercial products or take the help of professionals who are expert in residential carpet cleaning in Dawson Creek.

Blot it and don’t rub

You need to use a paper towel for blotting the stain. Don’t rub the stain with a paper towel as that would spread it more. Just pat it using a paper towel. Replace the towel it does not soak up the urine anymore. Just make sure to keep on patting the area that has been stained until it becomes dry.

Bring some vinegar

Mix water and vinegar in the same ratio in a bucket and then soak the stained area with the solution. This would help to cut through the stubborn stain. The vinegar in the solution neutralizes ammonia present in urine thereby helping to get rid of the smell. Now, what you need to do is scrub hard the stained area to ensure you get deep in the fibers below the surface of the carpet. This would help in removing any lingering pet stain.

Dry the stain and get rid of the smell

When the spot is wet, use baking soda & a little bit of vinegar. You would see & hear it crackling and fizzing. The result would be the elimination of the stain & smell from the flooring surface. It is always best to rub the baking soda with a brush if you want to get deep down into the fibers of the carpet.

Also, remember one more thing when applying the baking soda – leave it on the flooring surface until it is dried completely. This may take 1 or 2 days depending on the quantity of vinegar/water solution that has been put. After it is dried completely, vacuum the soda from carpet and get an upholstery that looks ad good as new.
