How To Read Text Messages From Another Phone For Free

Most of us these days use multiple communication devices like a couple of phones, an iPad, and a Laptop or Computer. And we always have one number registered with all the important services and banks etc. What happens if you happen to forget the primary phone at home or worse lose it and now you want to access your email that has a two-factor authentication enabled or want to do a bank transaction. The OTP will come on the primary phone which you’re not carrying. So how to read text messages from another phone for free? I found quite a simple workaround for this which works on all mobile platform be it Android iOS and even my work computer. The idea was to not install any new applications and use the existing ones that I have on my phone and automate this process of how to retrieve text messages from another phone for free. Also, I’m not trying to teach you how to receive other peoples text messages. That’s still illegal All we need here are two applications that most of us generally use, IFTT and Google Drive.  Since both IFTT and Google Drive are platform independent it is pretty easy to synchronize texts across the mobile, web and desktop without using any other accounts or services.

How To Read Text Messages From Another Phone For free?

Follow the below steps to set up the process to access SMS on multiple devices :

First of all, we need IFTT application. IFTT stands for If This Than That, is the easiest and free way to get your apps and devices working together. If you do not have it already, download IFTT on your primary device that has the sim card which gets all the messages. Download IFTT: iOS, Android, it’s a free and a lightweight application. Sign up for IFTT using any Gmail account, however, you need to ensure its the same Gmail account that you use on other devices where you want to read the text messages.

Next up we need to set up a simple recipe in IFTT, to read text messages from another phone. Follow the below process:

1. Go to my Applets at the bottom right corner
2. Click on “+” on the top bar
3. Next, click on “+this“
4. Search for “Android SMS” to create a trigger
5. Out of the options select, “Any New Message Received“
6. Next, click on “+Then“
7. From the options, you get, select Google Drive
8. Connect to your Google account. you just need to authorize this once. Give relevant permissions to IFT when prompted
9. Nest, Click on “File URL” Field and select “Add Ingredient” and select the information that you want to save to Google drive spreadsheet, one by one. Then tap the “correct icon” on top right
10. Recheck and click on “Finish”

Provided the phone has internet connectivity, every time you get a text on your phone, this trigger gets invoked and it saves a copy of the content in a spreadsheet on your google drive. You can simply login/access the spreadsheet on any device and read text messages from another phone. Simple isn’t it.
