By Julia Fernandes @appshub

In the ongoing societal culture proposing (Read: Qualities You Must Look for in a Man Before Marrying Him) a woman by a man is considered normal, but a woman proposing a man seems to be rather unusual even in an age of gender equality. Anyhow things are changing fast and I feel that women should take lead in this field also. They should not be shy of proposing the man of their liking. Though it would be a daring step and may need lot of initiative. This is all the more true for societies where such initiatives are considered as taboos. Still it is not very difficult and only requires a little bit of preparation.

How to Propose a Man and Make the Occasion Memorable

Choose the Right Man. Before proposing make sure that the man is sincere and is serious in having a lasting relationship with you. Avoid those who are just out on a flirting spree. A prolonged relationship with the man would have enabled you to distinguish between a noble person and a rogue. The man you decide to make your life partner should be reliable and faithful, [Read: When Not to Fall in Love Despite Temptation]. He should have confidence in you. He should not be spying on you on trivial matter. He should not impose his preconditions fro marriage that are impossible and difficult for you to fulfill. The man should be upright with a reasonable degree of financial discipline.

Make the Environment Congenial for Floating the Proposal. After having thought over with open mind and considering all the aspects, now is the time that you can move a step forward towards making a proposal. Select a place that is congenial, romantic and suitable for such a venture. If your man is fond of outings then an appropriate place for proposing would be a nice restaurant or a picnic spot. Even a sports event like a cricket match or tennis game would provide suitable atmosphere for this. However if the man is solitude loving and avoids rush, then it is better to arrange the occasion at a private residence on a quixotic meal. You can combine your proposal with offering a bouquet or a small, attractive manly gift. [Read: What Gift Should you Present to your Boyfriend on Valentine's Day]

Be Prepared to show Flexibility. When you propose the man you may not expect a spontaneous, positive response. Your man may get a pleasant surprise and may not be mentally ready to respond on the spot. He may ask for a little time to ponder. A very common category of men would like to continue the romantic relationship but would avoid the bondage of a marriage. If that be the case, you still have lot of time to 'lure' your man into the wedlock. Do not lose heart and keep your efforts in full swing.
