How to Make Your Pet Insta-famous

By Twothirstytravellers @2thirstytrav

Is your pet the cutest thing ever? If so, you should share their charms with the world. Pet influencers enjoy some awesome perks, and you could even make it your full-time job.

Here are some top tips for making your pet insta-famous:

Create a brand

When you first start your Instagram account, make sure you choose some phrases and words for the ‘brand’ of your pet. Are they curious? Friendly? Silly? Make sure you know how you’d like them to express themselves, and ensure all your photos are similar in style and theme. For example, if you’re branding your pet as a ‘high-class city dog’, keep it consistent with those types of shots- don’t post photos of them sitting in the woods.

Post regularly

This is important- plan to post at least once a day. Many pet bloggers will post two to three times a day, to grow followers and increase engagement. One way to do this is to set aside a whole day every few weeks to take a bunch of videos and photos, and then spread those posts out over the next few weeks.

Use hashtags

Hashtags help your pet get discovered on instagram. To find the best hashtags, take a look at what the top pet bloggers and social media stars are using. Use these, and be a little original as well. Make it easy for people to find you and your pet.

Share with your audience

Many people follow pet bloggers and Instagram accounts not just for the cute photos, but also for advice and tips. Let your followers know where you got your discount pet supplies, how you trained your pet, and how you fix any problems that come up. Be open and honest- people appreciate transparency and this is a great way to build up a loyal following.

Be social

One of the best ways to get new followers is to get featured on larger Instagram accounts. You should also follow other similar accounts, and be proactive with commenting and liking. This will help you create a name for yourself, and you’ll also be able to find lots of new friends who are also pet owners. This is also a great way to learn about offline events, where you can meet other pet social media stars, and networking can lead to some very lucrative (and fun) opportunities.
