The elements to prepare your own homemade liquid detergent are all biodegradable and do not harm human health. Even mixed together.

So let’s take a look at each component one by one.

Baking soda is made from a mixture of chalk and a salt, sodium carbonate, to which carbon dioxide is then added to obtain the substance we know. This substance is biodegradable.

Marseille soap is largely composed of salt and water, which makes it a 100% biodegradable product. Finally, white vinegar, if it is acidic, does not harm living organisms or their environment.

Ingredients :

  • 100g of Marseille’s soap
  • 120 ml of white vinegar,
  • 3 tablespoons of baking soda,
  • 2 liters of water
  • lavender essential oil, the fragrance of your choice…

Utensils and equipment: basin, pot, cheese grater, wooden spoon, funnel, clean and empty recycling bottles (capacity 3 l)

  • Pour the solution into a pot, add the white vinegar and the sodium bicarbonate. Use the mixer if necessary.
  • If you wish, add the essential oil of your choice, here lavender
  • Let stand 24 hours. The mixture will take on the appearance of a cream. It’s normal.
  • Add a liter of water that has just boiled and dilute
  • Transfer the liquid into the containers using a funnel
  • Let cool and shake the can
  • For a wash: take the cap (of a laundry product) as a measure. Result ? The clothes are clean, soft and smell good.
  • With 2 litres, you can do 40 to 50 washes. If the laundry is very dirty, do not add homemade soap, but soda crystals.

Tip: If you want to get real Marseille soap, choose the one containing “sodium olivate”. It must not contain any added glycerin.

Perfectly feasible at home, biodegradable, and really less expensive than conventional detergents, your liquid soap will delight the family for clean, soft and fragrant laundry. Adopting it is an ecological gesture for a healthier planet to bequeath to our children.
