How to make fun pumpkin succulent displays

Pumpkins are often seen as Halloween decorations but, depending on how they are decorated, they can be used throughout the year. Here's how to make your own pumpkin succulent display.

You will need:

  • A foam pumpkin (one for each display)
  • A selection of succulents
  • Succulent potting mix
  • Moss
  • Sharp knife
  • Decorating accessories including glue, glitter, setting spray, stencils, etc

Method:

  • Start by cutting off the top of the pumpkin. It's best to cut almost the entire top off because you need space for your plants to grow.
  • Now you can decide how you wish to decorate your pumpkin. You can use stensils to trace designs like various leaves on the exterior of the pumpkin.
  • Once you have traced your designs, you can apply some glue and glitter. Alternatively, you can paint or paste a design onto the pumpkin.
  • If you use glitter, you should apply a setting spray to keep it in place.
  • Now you can add the potting mix and your succulents.
  • While these plants generally grow quite slowly, you should always allow enough space so that the pumpkin potter is not overcrowded.
  • You can also add some moss to conceal the potting spoil.
  • Display and enjoy your potted arrangement.
  • Repeat these steps to create as many displays as you want.
