How to Make an Impact Blogging in 2019

Posted on the 30 November 2018 by Andykinsey @andykinsey

Blogs provide fantastic creative outlets, but they can provide so much more than that. Maybe you’ve created a personal blog that you want to turn into a profitable venture in your spare time. Maybe you’re running a business that’s trying to create a blog for its website in order to increase profit margins or brand awareness. Whatever the case, making an impact with your blog can be difficult in 2019.

Blogging is not a new idea, after all.

There’s a lot of competition in the market. If you’ve ever tried to push a website up the rankings on search engines before then you’ll know that it takes a lot to be noticed. Still, the blogging advice in this post might just get you on the right track to make an impact.

Keep your content vibrant and diverse.

Maybe you’re passionate about gardening and you can’t stop writing about the subject. And your content might be very useful or interesting to readers who are also fanatical about greenery.

However, you’re going to struggle to draw in visitors if your content appears bland and lifeless on the surface. Make sure you use pictures in your articles, for starters. In this age of visual media, a blog that’s purely text-based is going to struggle to engage readers, no matter how vibrant your language might be.

Make sure the layout of your blog is clear and colourful too. A contemporary aesthetic can make all the difference. You should ensure that your logo/site name is big, bold, and captivating at the top of your page. A clear and simple tagline will always make a big impact too. A responsive layout will also help you to rank well on search engines. That’s well worth considering.

Seek opportunities for monetisation.

As mentioned in the introduction, people have different reasons for wanting to take their blog to the next level. However, whether you’re a big business that’s trying to reel in new customers or somebody who’s trying to create a new source of income, anybody can start earning money from their blog.

One great route is to build up a strong following and use your audience as a tool to make money; companies will sponsor you to promote their products. Of course, you’ll need to make sure you only sponsor products or services that are related to the topic of your blog. Otherwise, you might deter your readers.

But if you’ve yet to build up a following that attracts businesses then you might want to post PPC adverts on your website. You’ll make money every time one of your visitors clicks on an advert. If you’re still asking yourself “can you make money blogging as a beginner?” then you should do some more research. You don’t need millions of followers to start earning some cash in your spare time.

There are so many potential routes to take when it comes to monetising your blog. Seek all the possible opportunities at your disposal. The internet is a wide-open resource. Even if you’re blogging for fun, it’s worth earning money whilst you do so.

Focus on one clear theme.

You might be interested in cars, but creating a car blog isn’t going to make you stand out. There are thousands and thousands of car blogs out there.

You’re going to struggle to reach the 100th page of search results (never mind the first page). If you want to create a blog that makes an impact and draws in readers then you need to focus on one clear theme.

So, continuing with the car example, you might want to focus your blog on Audi maintenance. Or maybe you’ll make a blog dedicated to renovating vintage car interiors.

The point is that you need to write about some specific sub-topic related to your passion. That’s how your blog will stand out.
