How to make a Halloween wreath
Halloween is just around the corner and it's time to start planning your snacks and décor. Wreaths are particularly popular around this time of year and so are sweet treats. So, why not combine the two by making your very own sweet wreath?
You will need:- A wreath base from wire, vines, or floral foam
- Floral wire
- Paper or artificial flowers
- Spooky chocolates and sweets (must be individually wrapped)
- Glue gun
- Ribbon and spooky accessories
- Start by preparing your flowers and sweets. You will need to twist a piece of wire around each stem so that it can be easily secured to the wreath.
- Once all of the stems have been attached to pieces of wire, it's time to secure your chocolates and sweets in place. Place a drop of warm glue onto the chocolate and secure to the centre of the flower. Hold in place until stuck in place and then set aside. If you are worried about the glue melting the chocolate or coming into contact with the sweets, you can add a piece of clear tape before applying the glue.
- Once all of your sweets are stuck in place, it's time to add the sweet flowers to the wreath. The way that you arrange them will depend on the type of wreath. A foam wreath needs to be completely covered as does a wire wreath. However, if you have a vine wreath, you can leave spaces in between if you like.
- Once you are satisfied with the visual effect, you can then add accessories if you like. A spooky bat, ghost, skeletop, and even a few spiders will certainly help enhance the Halloween theme. You can also finish off with a ribbon at the bottom.
- Remember, when choosing your flowers, make sure that you choose orange and black for the perfect spooky effect. The same goes for your ribbon. Paper flowers are fairly easy to make and you can use pipecleaners as stems which will mean that you will not need to add wires to the stems.
- Encourage everyone to remove the sweets gently and keep some extras tucked away so that you can restock as needed.
