How to Keep Your Hard Disk’s Space Free? [Part 1]

Android is more than a trend and Nokia Lumia 920 is rocking the western smartphone hemisphere quite effectively. Convertibles are arising from a horizon to have a glance at the new middle path.

Still, we are providing you with the tips for your desktop PC because we know that many of our users still using desktops extensively. So here are the tips to “How to keep your hard disk’s space free?

1. Removing unnecessary program:

There are plenty of software, extensions, and apps available for different tasks. Some of them are used to perform some tasks for a limited period of time. Some software come with mandatory add on. Such as Babylon toolbar comes as mandatory add on with AVG antivirus.

There are plenty of games and software which people only use for temporary testing. So you should sort out such an application and remove them from your system. Now you will ask me how? So here is the answer.

  • Click on the start button
  • Choose “control panel”

  • You will have a new window
  • Choose “Uninstall a program” from tag below “program” as shown in figure

  • The window will appear as shown in the figure below with all the programs listed. You can choose any of them (Unwanted) and by just clicking on them you can uninstall those programs.

2. Turn off windows components

There are plenty of windows features that we are not using. So it is advisable to remove them and keep our disks free. As mentioned above you can choose the control panel. Now select the program tab itself and you will have a window as shown in the figure below.

You can click on the option “Program and features”. You will be redirected to a new window. Here you have an option of “turn off windows features” on the left top corner of the window.

If you keep them on they keep using your temporary folder memory.

Some tips:

You can use .zip or .rar files to compress your data. That will save plenty of space for you. You can download WinZip and WinRar software. After installing them you can choose the files you want to have in .zip or .rar formate.

Press ctrl+right click on the selected file. This will redirect you to options pop up. Select add to the archive. Choose the format you want and click yes. That’s all.
