Employees will be more productive if they have encouraging and supportive employers. Of course, such a mutual relationship requires give and take from both sides. Here are some effective yet simple tips you can apply to your workplace to improve wellness as well as guarantee a good balance between professional performance and mental well-being.

Breaks

Take a break once in a while to improve your productivity. Even better, scientists have proven that movement breaks reduce the risk of diabetes, heart disease, depression and obesity. Your thinking capacity will be negatively affected if you are spending too much time on your desk. The same goes for your creativity and motivation so take a break from your computer and desk for an overall wellness feeling.

You can take a short walk for some fresh air or read a book in the break room. Even better, try a waking rest because every little thing helps with your overall mental health. Remember, working for longer hours doesn't necessarily mean you will be working better. Do your body a favor and take a little break every 1 or 2 hours to recharge your mind.

Open and Honest Communication

If you want to maintain proper mental health in the workplace, you need to practice open and honest communication. It's a 2 way channel since employers need to be understanding and upfront about everything that affects the employees. As an employee, you can also start the direct communication channels and use them when it matters for the best results.

Do you have a lot of work to do with unrealistic deadlines and numerous other grievances in your role? You should find the most respectful and sincere way to voice your concerns. That way, you can create a manageable and productive working environment for yourself and those around you.

Be Punctual

Just as you need to take regular breaks, you need to manage your clock in and out times. You're going to be unproductive if you are overworked especially if you are sacrificing a lot of personal time to reduce your workload. After the 50 hour mark, your productivity output will drop dramatically and plummet entirely once you reach 55 hours.

You are simply draining your own mental and physical wellbeing thus it's a waste of valuable time. You can get to work on time and leave on time. You will make the most out of your contracted hours and learn when to call it a day. If you want to create a good work-life balance there should be a clear divide between your personal and professional life. Make sure you respect these boundaries to enjoy the benefits when you are in and out of work.

Avoid Multi-Tasking

There are a lot of dangers associated with multi-tasking and they are spreading around. You might assume you are multi-tasking but there is actually nothing happening. You are actually just shifting your focus repeatedly between 2 tasks without making a lot of progress on both of them. Actually, if you took the time to do one task at a time, you will finish everything with a lot of time to spare.
