How to Impress on a First Date

By G J @myfavesjournal

First dates can be difficult to get right. So, if you need to find a way to impress your date, read the tips below.

Dress Well
Hopefully, your date won’t be totally focused on how you look. They should be won over by your personality instead. But you still need to create a positive first impression. People usually decide what they think of someone within seconds of meeting them, this is how humans are! So, that means it’s vital to create a good visual impression by dressing well. That doesn’t mean you have to follow conventions though. You should express yourself through your clothes and not pretend to be something you’re not.

How to Impress on a First Date

Have a Laugh
Yes, I know going on dates can be incredibly tense and nervy. But you need to resist the temptation to become so shy that you forget to have fun. The quickest way to make a bond with someone is to share in a few laughs. If you share a sense of humour, then you know that you might have a future together. Of course, that’s not all that matters, but it certainly doesn’t hurt the potential relationship! So, try to relax and be yourself. If you do this, you’ll be much more likely to have a laugh together.

Show a Skill
If the date is going pretty well and you want to find a new way to impress the person across the table from you, try pulling out a skill. We all have a skill talent, so, as long as you’re in a suitable location, why not show your date? This is a wonderful way of breaking the ice or making the other person laugh. Sometimes, it can help to bring a failing date back to life. If you’re in need of a bar trick, you should check out the new arrivals at Magicnevin. A magic trick always goes down well.

Listen
Keep Cool
We can do all kinds of things when we’re worried about the date we’re going on. But you need to try to control your behavior and keep it cool. Some people end up heading for the bathroom and never coming back, some people never show up at all. And some people act like they’d rather be anywhere else in the world rather than on the date. Those kinds of behavior will not help you impress anyone or find love though. So, you need to stay sensible and rational. Try to exude confidence and then the other person will be put at ease too.

Listen
Don’t be one of those people who spend the entire evening talking about themselves. There’s nothing worse than going on a date and being faced with someone who is more interested in their own monolog than an actual dialogue! Many people who talk and talk and talk do so because they’re nervous. So, no matter how nervous you get, remember to shut your mouth and let the other person get a few words in as well. Then listen to what they say. Remember that no date can end very positively if it’s entirely one-sided.
