Steel is a composite resource that is crafted in the Chemistry Lab, requires Carbon, Argon & Iron
How to Get Steel in Astroneer – Source
Steel cannot be found, you must create it from the following recipe
Requires: Chemistry Lab| Recipe: x1 Carbon + x1 Argon + x1 Iron = x1 Steel
How to Create the Chemistry Lab?
Requires: Medium Printer Module | Recipe: Chemistry Lab = Tungsten + Glass + Ceramic
Tungsten: Check the Tungsten guide
Ceramic: Check the Ceramic guide
Glass: Use Quartz in the smelting furnace, to find the Quartz
Quartz can be found on all of the Planets.
The Soil Centrifuge produces 4 Quartz with two full Canisters of Soil.
The Trade Platform gives 2 Quartz for every Scrap, up to 8 total for 4 Scrap.
How to Get Carbon, Argon & Iron?
Carbon: use Organic in the Smelting Furnace, to find Organic:
Organic is found on every planet when using the Terrain Tool on most kinds of flora.
The Soil Centrifuge produces 8 Organic with two full Canisters of Soil.
The Trade Platform gives 2 Organic for every Scrap, up to 8 total for 4 Scrap
Argon: can be found on the following planets using the Atmospheric Condenser:
- Vesania : 50 ppu
- Glacio : 100 ppu
Iron: use Hematite in the Smelting Furnace, to find Hematite:
- Novus : Cave Layers
- Glacio : Ice Dunes and Mantle Layers
The Trade Platform gives 2 Hematite for every 3 Scrap, up to 4 total for 6 Scrap
