Are ants detrimental to people?

Among 12000 known species of ants, majority of them are harmless to the people. They are the disease carrier and disperse it from patient to healthy people. Pathogenic bacteria are carried by the ants easily from one place to another. They can cause respiratory track diseases and asthma. Some others are the cause of allergies.

So either they are harmful or not one thing is understood that we need to get rid of them. But these ways should be organic and should not be that much harsh on them.

A silica made of petrified remnants of aquatic entities called diatoms or diatomaceous earth. It kills ants and other unwelcoming insects by dehydrating them. It absorbs their oils and they dry away stark dead. But it can cause irritation and breathing problems so you should wear safety gears before having its procedure. It is not a poison. So all you need to do it is to dusting it over the ants they will not be able to survive this blow.

It can be easily procured from any of the garden or online stores.

All the ants walk in the straight line and give a fragrant trace behind. This trace acts as map for the following ants to follow. So we have to use this phenomenon. You can use glass cleaner to overcome or end this scented trail so that the ants cannot find their way back to your home.

Mix both cleaner and detergent in a sprinkler and spray all over the area where the ants are usually found. Clean it away and repeat if needed after a couple of days.

Acting as natural ant repellents, black and red pepper do their job the best. They are irksome, galling and irritating. Simple take a pepper shaker and sprinkle them all over the place. Sprinkle in the area where you notice the influx usually.

Another organic way to deter ants is the use of peppermint. You can also use it for deterring bugs, mosquitoes and other insects. It will do great if mixed with 2 cups of water. Sprinkle it as usual and enjoy the results.

It acts in the same way as peppermint oil does and the procedure is also almost the same. You have to put 5 to 10 drops in two cups water in a sprinkler. Sprinkle it over the targeted areas. Repeat if needed. It is available in any general store or super mart.

Extract oil from lemon eucalyptus and use it as an effective repellent. It is also added to the candle wax to deter the flies and bugs away. Soak the cotton balls in the lemon eucalyptus oil and place them near ants' colonies. Replace the balls or add more oil to the balls after a week if required.

It only has same name with lemon eucalyptus but OLE is quite a different thing. It can be obtained from the gum eucalyptus tree. The chemical p- Menthane-3, 8-diol in it is responsible for the ant repulsion. It is natural pesticide that is safe to use. Get it from a local store or from an online resource.

Not only it serves us faithfully on the table, white vinegar has hundreds of other uses as well. If you clean your kitchen tops with vinegar soaked cloth, it will not let the ants wander over there in the kitchen. You can directly spray it over the targeted zone.
