How to Generate Traffic for Your Website – Limited Budget

Let’s face it, quality content is the lifeline of your blog or website so we spend most of our time working on it. Without good quality content, it is harder for your site to be discovered in the search engines. However, learning how to generate quality traffic for your website when your funds are limited can often be difficult.

So I am going to go over a few of my favorite tips you can follow that I have picked up along the way.

Here are a few ways you can begin generating website traffic:

1. Use search engines to your advantage.

One of the best ways you will want to generate traffic is organically but this will take some knowledge of SEO. That will require you to make sure you take the time to optimize your content and choose keywords and phrases for your target audiences search preferences.

There are some free tools you can use to help you find keywords quickly online like the extension keywords everywhere. I also recommend you signup for Jaaxy’s free 30 searches.

When searching for a keyword you will also want to install the Moz Pro link explorer extension. This extension lets you know the Domain authority of sites so when you are aiming for a certain site’s first page ranking on Google you will see how high the DA is for sites on the first page of the keyword you wish to rank for.

2. Check for broken links.

Broken links can be a signal of low quality to search engines which means a loss of customers to your website. So review your website and check whether you have any links that need fixing.

A quick way to do this is by using a plug-in like Broken link checker or go here.

3. Assess who’s talking about you.

You may want to look into whether or not anyone is talking about you or your brand but not linking to you and consider reaching out to them. If so, politely ask them to link to you. This could be an opportunity for more traffic.

4. Update your old content.

This is something that is often overlooked but has the potential for missed traffic. Take a look through your Google Analytics and see which content is performing best. Then update old posts with new stats, facts, quotes, or images, to bring in a new audience or attention. Don’t forget to add a “[UPDATED for 2020]” tag in your headline.

5. Reach out manually

One way to grow your business is through networking and building relationships but this doesn’t always happen automatically. That means it will take some searching on your part for like minded individuals in your field.

Reach out to people and offer them incentives to help grow your business as you will do the same for them.

6. Refresh your ranking content.

We often think once our content is published and on page two of Google then our work is done, but that is not the truth. Content on page two is the kind of content you want to pay most attention to by refreshing and optimizing it to make sure it ranks to page one.

Check your webmaster tools to see which of your content is ranking on page two and optimize it to ensure you get better rankings.

7. Share your content

One place to get traffic is from social sites like Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook. So make sure your post has a social button on them by installing the proper plugins.

Share your post on the best social sites for your niche. If you are a mom blogger than Pinterest may be best for you, but make sure you post consistently.

If posting regularly is a problem then install an extension like Buffer or use Tailwind.

Conclusion

Sometimes, generating website traffic with a limited marketing budget can be difficult. There are many different things you have to learn and many different things you have to deal with.

However, taking these steps is worth the cost to ensure you get your site and brand on the right track. Remember, quality content is king and without it all the traffic you manage to generate will still be – just traffic.
