The number one thing you should master when it comes to fixing your clothes is, of course, sewing. Even though sewing is the most practical way to fix something, it is not always the best way to go. For example, if you have, for example a jacket that has a small hole in it, sewing it might be quite visible. In this sense, adding a patch to the garment in order to cover the hole can be a good idea. Some patches can be sewn, while others can be fixed on your clothes in minutes with the help of a hot iron.

This may sound like a crafty idea, but using something like super glue can really take you a long way. When it comes to clothes, glue is often not the best way to go, but it can be used for example for add-on collars or other similar things. However, glue can prove itself to be extremely useful for fixing accessories. Super glue can be extremely useful for fixing accessories as it can help you recondition things like wallets, gloves, shoes, bags and even jewelry. We would not recommend trying to fix things that are of very high value with glue though: high-end jewelry or watches should be examined and fixed by a professional.

At times, clothes that seem too damaged to be used anymore can be saved by simply cutting them. Whether the trick will work or not, depends on where and how the clothes are damaged. For example, a pair of pants that has been severely damaged in the lower half can be recreated by turning it into shorts. Jackets and shirts can sometimes be made into vests and so on. If the respective garments are too damaged, they can be " upcycled " into something very different, for example, you can make a laptop sleeve from a bunch of pieces of materials from various clothes.

At times, clothes and accessories get stained or damaged to a degree where the stains cannot be removed anymore. In order to still be able to make best use of your things, a good way to go can be to dye them. This way, you will be able to keep wearing your item, but in a new color (or, why not, color combo).

Moreover, accessories, including small leather goods can be painted with special colors. If you know someone who can paint beautifully, you can ask them to do something for your bag, belt or wallet that will make the damaged part virtually invisible. This way, you won't have to throw things away that easily.

Finding a good way to recondition a clothing item or an accessory can be a really great way to make sure you will extend the item's use time and, even more so, that you will renew your wardrobe without having to spend too much money or effort. Cutting, reshaping, gluing and coloring are practical and easy-to-do ways to make sure you will enjoy your clothes and accessories longer.
