How to Deodorize a Thermos

Getting rid of the lingering smell of coffee in your thermos is far from an easy task. Fortunately, it is possible to remedy this inconvenience by resorting to a simple, ingenious and economical trick.

There’s no point buying a new thermos if yours continually smells of coffee. Indeed, there is an ingenious method to remedy this problem and reuse your container again.

Smelling the smell of good hot coffee emanating from your thermos in the morning is a pleasant sensation, especially since its aroma is unique. But this comforting scent can quickly become boring, when it constantly emerges from the thermos. Indeed, chasing this odor is not an easy task. It even happens that after many attempts, it persists or even worsens. Fortunately, there is a little-known technique to say goodbye to the lingering smell of coffee in the thermos.

To start, you will need to clean the inside of the container. To do this, get a brush, dishwashing liquid and a little elbow grease. It will first be necessary to rub the inside of the thermos to fight against the lingering smell of coffee. Moreover, and if you want to clean up the smell of your container, fill a third of the thermos with hot water to which you will need to add a tablespoon of baking soda. Then, gently shake the thermos and let this preparation act all night. You will be surprised by the absence of the smell of coffee from your container the next day.

Sometimes we can believe that it is the walls of the thermos that retain all the smell of coffee. This particularly strong and bitter aroma is also present on the lid of the thermos as well as its seal. So that your container is completely clean, make sure that the lid is also. To do this, you will have to check its smell. If the latter is smelly, start by removing the joint to wash it with a solution based on a mixture of water and dishwashing liquid. If you can’t do this, get an old toothbrush and clean the seal and the entire lid.

Let the thermos dry in the sun

There is one last step to say goodbye to the stubborn smell of coffee for good. After thoroughly cleaning your thermos, let it dry in the sun. The latter will get rid of all odors, whether coffee or stale. A practical method to find a thermos like new. Thus, do not hesitate to let your thermos dry for several hours until it is completely dry and clean. The sun’s rays will take an active part in eliminating the stubborn smell of coffee.

When your thermos gives off an unpleasant smell of coffee, it is always possible to remedy it. So you won’t have to buy a new one. Remember to apply this tip, to continue to enjoy your coffee, every morning.
