How to Create a Winning Smile

By Ty Watson

A smile says a lot about a person, and there is no doubt we all want to be able to smile with confidence. When we are meeting friends, we may want to give them a warm greeting, or we may want to reassure someone who is feeling uneasy, there are lots of reasons a smile can be important. If you are self-conscious about your smile - here we have some top tips to make you feel more comfortable.

Create a Routine for Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene should be part of your daily routine and shouldn't be something that's forgotten about. Make sure you have a checklist of things to do. For example, you should clean your teeth both in the morning, and at night. It's also critical that you take time to floss so you are cleaning in-between your teeth too. You also may want to pay extra attention to the products that you use. Fluoride toothpaste should be the preferred choice, and you should drink fluoridated water.

Take Care When it Comes to Diet

We should be careful what we put in our bodies anyway, however many people don't understand that it can also affect the healthiness of our teeth. Wherever possible, you should limit alcoholic drinks (particularly red wine) as this is likely to stain the teeth. Caffeine drinks such as tea and coffee are also ones that could cause discolouration. Although not part of a diet, tobacco products are also a no-go when it comes to having a gleaming smile.

Visit the Dentist Regularly

We all see going to the dentist as a chore, and let's be honest take longer on occasion to book in appointments than we should. Make sure that you don't put off any issues - and visit the dentist regularly for preventative measures to make sure your teeth are healthy. You will also get visits to the hygienist that can spruce your teeth up for you. As a general rule of thumb - you should visit the dentist every 6 months.

Straighten your Smile

If you are concerned that your teeth aren't as straight as you would like, there are some great products you can look into that can help straighten them such as clear aligners or invisible braces. The best part is, you won't need to wear them day in, day out. Wearing aligners during the night is also an option, so you don't even know you have them in. You can sit back, relax and let them do the work whilst you are sleeping. This means there is no interruption to your day time, and they are comfortable enough not to cause issues with your sleeping patterns.

If you are a little self-conscious of your smile, or you just want to do a little extra work to make your teeth look healthier, then make sure you try out these top tips. You will have a winning smile in no time.
