Great, so let’s step in to create a website which is free, easy and fast. But, before jumping into creating a website, you should first have few things ready.
# 1. Your goal
Why do you want to have a website? Think about it and make a note. We will need it later.
# 2. Your Target Audience
For whom you are creating this website. Think about them and realize what kind of content, image, color they will enjoy.
# 3. Content
Think about the content you want to put in your website. If you have your content ready, then designing your website will be very much easier.

So, after you have worked on the above, next we will decide which platform to use to create your website for free. Though there are many tools out there on the internet today, but we have decided to work with the best 2, Wix and WordPress.
Wix is one of the most famous tools to create a free website. Wix was founded in 2006 by Israeli developers Avishai Abrahami, Nadav Abrahami, and Giora Kaplan. Headquartered in Tel Aviv. Currently, Wix has over 150 million users in 190 countries.
This is a platform where you can easily create a website. It is so simple that you can easily create your own website without any technical our website designing knowledge. You can just use your creativity with fonts, colors, images so easily. There are several options to add pages, designs and many more. Isn’t that cool?
So, are you ready and excited? Let’s create a website using Wix.
Step #1 – Sign-up for a Wix account
The first and foremost step is to create a Wix account.
You will get this above picture when you visit Wix.com. Click on the “Get Started” button and sign-up with Facebook account or the Google account. Then, you will have to answer a few questions like why you need to create the website? your professional details and all. You will also find options for the domains. Wix will give you a free sub-domain. Sub-domains are like www.example.wix.com but, still, if you want to have your own domain like www.example.com you can buy it too.
Step #2 – Home page Customization
After filling all the details and choosing the themes, you’ll find a place where you can customize your homepage the way you want it. You will be given an option to choose the kind of homepage design you want same like the picture below. Isn’t it awesome?
Step #3 – Design and edit your website
This is the most interesting part. When you entered this step you will find several options to edit and design your website. Such a delightful experience.
In this picture above, on the left-hand side, you will find all the edit options for home page, about sections, services and many more. If you want to add some other pages on your website, you can do that too. You can set the images as well.
Step #4 – Content
Obviously, you have already worked on the content as we discussed above and when you are working on this design, the content was always in mind. In the left-hand side, as shown in the below image, you can use your content for your sections and pages.
Step #5 – Publish
This is the last part. Now after doing all the changes you can click on the “Publish” button and your website will be online within less than a minute. Isn’t that so easy? Now, Wix also has a paid version which gives you more options in terms of design. But, in free isn’t this (www.bappaut05.wixsite.com/website) cool to show to the world about what you do.
Okay, so the next website we will create using WordPress. Again, this is free, easy and interesting too. So, let’s see how to create a website using WordPress.
WordPress was founded on 27th May 2003 and it’s founders were Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little. Today around 19,500,000 websites on the entire web use WordPress. Same as the Wix.com, it is so simple to understand. Their user interface is so simple and features rich. For designing, there are many templates that you can use for designing your website the way you want. The latest version of WordPress released in December 2018 named WordPress 5.0 “Bebo”.
There are two options in WordPress that you can choose for your purpose.
- com – It is totally free and has limitations of features.
- org (Self-hosted) – This is free as well, but you will need your own domain and website hosting. It will give you the full control to personalize on your website.
Let’s us do with WordPress.com for which you need nothing, just a little bit of your time to have your own website, and in another article, I will show you how to create a website using WordPress.org.
Step #1 – Sign-up
Same as Wix, you have to sign-up first to use WordPress.
Sign-up by providing your email, username, and password or using your Google account.
Step #2 – Choosing the purpose
After creating your account on WordPress.com, you have to choose the purpose of your website and after choosing the purpose, WordPress will suggest you a few gorgeous templates to design your website. Take time to look at the templates that match your needs and content, then select one.
Step #3 – Domain name selection
In this part, you’ll find a search bar where you can write down your web address preferences and WordPress will give you a few suggestions over that. Though you can choose the free domain from WordPress, there are several options for paid services too.
Step #4 – Upgradation of the Home Page
After selecting your domain and creating the web address, you will be redirected to a dashboard, from where you can edit the template you have chosen and design your website.
Like you see on the above picture, in the left side, you will find options like your plan, your pages, media, and the design option. Play around with those and stop where you are satisfied.
As you can see that I’m doing some editing on my home page, about with ease. WordPress makes things so easy that anyone can create a beautiful website. I have added some images as well. Even if you want to add some extra pages, you can do that too. Also, you can find a built-in contact form for your website as well.
Step #5 – Make your website Online
This is the last step folks. After designing all the pages now, you have to make it online. You have to click on the “Update” button placed on the top right-hand corner. After clicking you will get an option to view your website page and clicking that option will redirect to your very own website.
