How to Clean Window Tracks with Homemade Tricks

You care and you’re right because they tend to get dirty quickly, especially since cleaning them proves difficult, especially between the grooves. No worries ! To enjoy a clean home, window cleaning is an essential step. However, their rails can prove more difficult to clean. Fortunately, there are effective tricks that allow you to achieve this while saving time.

Look no further, your closet contains all kinds of ingredients capable of cleaning the tracks of your windows and sliding doors. Thanks to them, you get the most effective and fastest natural methods to fight against accumulated dirt and dust:

  • Baking soda and white vinegar to clean window tracks

HASBefore using the products of the trick, start by sucking the largest particles of dust and dirt from the rails. It is best to use a dedicated vacuum cleaner for hard-to-reach places. Then apply the following two-step method.

·Sprinkle a cup of baking soda on the rails then spray some water using a spray bottle. Leave on for 10 minutes then wipe with a slightly dampened microfiber cloth.

·Then spray the rails with white vinegar, leave to act for 5 minutes then use an old toothbrush to scrub. Then use a microfiber cloth to remove the vinegar and residual dirt. If the stains turn out to be firmly embedded in the grooves, repeat the process as many times as necessary. Another trick to clean well, cut cuts in the sponge (as picture below) to perfectly fit the rails and have an impeccable cleaning!

  • Hydrogen peroxide for super clean window tracks

Like white vinegar and baking soda, hydrogen peroxide is also considered a must for responsible cleaning. If the rails of your windows and doors accumulate dirt or even mould, hydrogen peroxide is an ally of choice thanks in particular to its highly reactive composition.

To use for this purpose, fill a spray bottle of a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide and a cup of water then stir. Then spray the solution on the window tracks and let sit for a few minutes to break down the dirt and grime.

Now all you have to do is wipe it all off with a slightly damp microfiber cloth. If traces of dirt persist, again repeat the operation until the dirt is completely gone. Our tip: do not hesitate to help yourself with a used toothbrush. It will be especially useful for the toughest stains. Well, that’s it !

  • The washing-up liquid for sparkling clean window rails

This everyday product can be considered the gentle alternative to the two previous solutions. However, its application may be enough for you if you are dealing with dirt that is not resistant. If you don’t have hydrogen peroxide or vinegar or baking soda, then you can exploit it.

After a little vacuuming to remove as much dirt as possible, mix warm water with dish soap. Then introduce the mixture into a spray bottle and spray it on the rails after shaking it.

Tip: Let the soap penetrate the dirty areas for a few minutes to ensure the success of the method, then remove it with a microfiber cloth. Your window rails will be nickels.

  • Pour an equal part of white vinegar and water into a spray bottle.
  • Spray the solution along the entire line of the rail then lay a microfiber towel over it. When it has absorbed all the liquid, remove it by wiping the surface and then use a toothbrush to loosen the most stubborn deposits.

Advice: Do not scour your rails aggressively to avoid damaging them. Of course, window frames and panes should also benefit from regular cleaning.
