How to Clean the Face with Active Vegetal Charcoal?

Posted on the 02 September 2022 by L'Express

A veritable vacuum cleaner of toxins and pollution particles, vegetable charcoal is a choice ally for detoxifying the skin while preserving its hydrolipidic film. This natural product, which is very popular at the moment, is used in the composition of many beauty care products. What are the cosmetic virtues of activated charcoal?

The virtues of vegetable coal for the skin

Vegetable charcoal is a 100% natural product obtained by burning organic plant matter such as fruit stones, wood, coconut shells or nut shells. Just like clay, vegetable charcoal has surprising absorption capacities, which makes it a good ally for cosmetic face care. It can be found in masks, cleansers and scrubs for combination and oily skin as well as acne-prone skin. Vegetal charcoal helps to eliminate impurities, toxins and excess sebum, thus gently purifying the skin.

Thanks to its antioxidant properties, activated vegetable charcoal is a real boon for people who smoke. Indeed, this product improves the radiance of dull skin and helps fight against premature skin aging. Activated charcoal is also effective in tightening dilated pores.

Brighten your complexion with a charcoal mask

To sublimate your skin and have a radiant complexion, take care of it by applying a mask prepared with activated charcoal. This homemade treatment is composed of 2 spoons of activated charcoal (powder) and a spoon of green clay (powder). Add rose water to the mixture so that the mixture becomes quite pasty. Apply this mask to the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) or to the entire face. Let it dry for about 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. It is also possible to combine activated charcoal with aloe vera gel, honey or yogurt (natural) for a purifying and moisturizing effect.

An anti blackhead mask with activated charcoal

To help you fight the blackheads that suffocate your skin and dull your complexion, think of plant charcoal, a must-have ingredient for making a peel-off treatment. For this mask, you’ll need an egg white and a teaspoon of charcoal. Mix these two components for two minutes to get a paste-like texture. Next, cut a 5cm wide strip of tissue paper. Apply this strip to the area to be treated and carefully apply the mask over it with a brush. Make sure to soak the brush to make the mask adhere to your skin. Leave on for about 20 minutes and then remove the tissue. You will find a smooth skin texture and an epidermis rid of all impurities. To optimize the effect of this treatment, don’t forget to remove your makeup before applying it.

Tip
Used throughout the world for centuries, charcoal is also combined with salicylic acid to eliminate excess sebum and pore-clogging impurities. It has antibacterial properties.
