Virgin Media is a UK company offering television, broadband, internet and both mobile and fixed-line telephone services. They are based in Hook and were created when Telewest and Virgin Mobile merged. They now have over 4.8 million customers including for their TV services, mobiles, landlines and other services. Step 1 - visit the website
The place to start to cancel a Virgin contract is their website. Visit http://www.virginmedia.com/ and find the page that applies to the product in question. Have a card handy for any cancellation fees that apply.
Broadband, TV and phone lines
If you are in the middle of a contract, there will be charges to cancel these products, so it is worth assessing this before taking any action. Most contracts are 9, 12 or 18 months in length.
Step 2 - review cancellation fees
If you have a Virgin mobile, call 160 from your handset to talk to Virgin about the cancellation. If the contract hasn't ended there may be fees to cancel it and you have to give 30 days' notice before cancelling the contract, so it won't take effect straight away.
To cancel broadband contracts, you need to give 90 days' notice so that all files, emails and other documents can be transferred before the contract stops. Any refund due for money paid will be sent to you by cheque within 30 days.
Step 3 - log in and cancel
On the main website, you will find the place to sign into your account with your username and password. If you don't have these or they don't work, you can request a new one or register if you are using it for the first time.
