How to Beat Huge Corporations at Adwords and Google Organic SEO

Let’s face it. Your biggest competitor has one huge advantage over you: budget.

If you want the number one spot in Adwords, you have to pay more than that huge company with the huge budget. So, you end up paying a fraction of what they pay and you get the lowest quality highest maintenance customers.

If you want the number one spot in Google organic search, you’re going to have to get more blog coverage, PR publicity, and more social media reshares than they get. Since that’s practically impossible, you end up with what’s called “long tail” keywords that very few people search. And if you do manage to get on page one of Google for a long multiword keyword phrase, you’re still stuck with 9 other low cost competitors who are happy to wear down your margins all day long.

How to Beat Huge Corporations at Adwords and Google Organic SEO

It wasn’t always like this. When Google and Adwords first came out, you could be on page one of Google for just about any keyword term you wanted. Over time, you’d get so much traffic, you just stayed there- naturally. And if you had the vision to start your search marketing back then, you wouldn’t be reading this because you’d be retired.

So can you get back to the good old days?

You don’t have to. You can beat huge competitors on Adwords and Google Organic SEO if you get visibility on “keyword forecasting.”

For example, the new biggest thing in computers is VUI. You’ve probably never heard of the term. It’s the next generation of GUI or Graphical User Interface. Remember DOS? You actually had to type, “delete file C colon back slash blah blah blah?” Well, with Apple’s GUI, you could just drag an icon to the trash and the UI automatically typed that long string of syntax into the computer behind the scenes.

VUI stands for Voice User Interface. It’s the next big thing because it took me 5 minutes, 31 seconds, 47 keystrokes and 15 mouse actions to access my bank balance. With Google Glass, you’ll just say, “O.K. Glass, what’s my balance?”

Soon even iphone app programmers and Magento eCommerce site designers will have to learn a whole new language or API to operate the new Voice Activated Web.

Since nobody knows the term VUI yet, being on page one of Google under that term in Adwords costs pennies per click. Getting into Google organic search results only requires a few well chosen links. But once you’re in, you get the highest margin customers. You’ll get all the early adopters.

Your industry may not be the computer industry. But your industry has just as many new innovations and trademarks that nobody’s heard of– yet.

To find these new low competition, early adopter keywords, you’re going to need to do that “keyword forecasting.” If you’re not a professional, you don’t have the tools to automate the process and scan the internet the way a trained professional would. You can try it manually, but this is where I’d recommend you at least consult with a professional like George Stevens at Nebstone.

Google recently decided to allow trademarked keyword terms for anyone’s use in Adwords. That makes every new term like VUI a major turning point opportunity. How are you going to attack?
