Wahooooo!!!

It is officially the longest day of the year… AKA… the first day of Summer!!!

Phat party at my house!

Not really.  Since the kid is 3, our parties consist of eating Gold Fish and watching Dora… {sigh….}.

But really though…  after our Cold Winter Welcome to the East Coast, We are soooo ready for some Sunshine.

While Winter is all about layering your wardrobe, Summer is all about Accessorizing and choosing one Statement Piece.  You can make an otherwise boring outfit of a V-neck and shorts, pop with a little help from the accessory department. A statement piece is something you wear that is unique and eye catching…. the first thing people are drawn to when they look at your outfit…. ex. a bold handbag… a chunky necklace… bright colored eyewear.

My go to pieces for Summer are big bold bracelets or chunky necklaces. The key is to have one Statement piece and a few other additional pieces… and try not go overboard. A small stack of bracelets on one arm… {I like to wear three}…. and a statement necklace is good. Try layering a lightweight scarf instead of a necklace  {If you have a hard time figuring out how exactly to tie a scarf this site has amazing tutorials!} Add a chunky cuff bracelet and you are good to go. I was recently gifted this one from J. Jill.  Although it was given to me… it is the perfect neutral color, it goes with Everything!  Forever 21, Target and H&M all have great “fast fashion” pieces as well!!

What are your favorite accessories for Summer?

A few weeks ago we headed up to Cape Cod for a few days. We stayed at Harbor Hotel a pet friendly hotel in Provincetown. The hotel was perfect for a budget stay on the Cape. The rooms were clean and it was within walking distance to the shops and right across the street from the beach pictured.  Our family very much enjoys visiting towns or cities that are walkable. Provincetown is a lovely town that is extremely easy to get around in without a car. There are cute little shops and wonderful seafood restaurants dotted along the shore.

We stumbled across this cute little ice cream shop called Ptown Scoop.

As you can tell, the husband and kid enjoyed their ice cream.

Also if you are need of some caffeine… you have to stop at the pet friendly, “Wired Puppy“…. Amazing European style espresso. Just what the Dr. ordered when traveling with a toddler!

We basically lounged beachside… and ate to our stomachs content… and then some.  Provincetown was the perfect place to unwind for the weekend.  Do you have any fun Summer plans???
