Big Data is the present, and it is the future as well. Each and every company will have to be in the data business now or later. But it is always good to have it now!
Data Engineer was labeled as the fastest-growing job in technology in the year 2019, reporting a 50% year-over-year growth in the number of open designations, according to the Dice 2020 Tech Job Report.  Let’s see what Statista has to say about Data Engineer. “The global big data market is forecasted to grow to 103 billion U.S. dollars by 2027, more than double its expected market size in 2019.”
Moreover, when you search for job openings of a Data Engineer, glassdoor has 10276 job openings. That’s huge!
Such big figures make you realize that the Data Engineer is the most in-demand tech job today. You can be the next most in-demand pro in this domain by adding a certification to your resume. Data Engineering Certification will let you achieve the job of your choice, as it will serve as an added benefit for you.

Who is a Data Engineer?

A person who develops, builds, tests, and monitors the complete architecture of the large-scale processing system or data storing architecture is referred to as a Data Engineer. As a Data Engineer, you need to build massive repositories or reservoirs and play a major role in managing those repositories along with the data that is extracted through different digital processes.

What does a Data Engineer do?

A Data Engineer is responsible for :
● Design, develop, build, install, test, and monitor the complete data management and processing system.
● Look after the complete Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) process.
● Create highly scalable, versatile, and fault-tolerant systems.
● Identify different opportunities for data acquisition.
● Find out optimal ways to improve data quality, reliability, and efficiency of the system created.
● Creating architectures in a way that is aligned according to the business requirements.
● Create a solution that is made by the integration of different languages and tools.
● For increasing efficiency and reducing costs, create data models with reduced system complexity.
● Deploy disaster recovery processes.
● Update the existing system with the latest data management tools and techniques to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities of a Data Engineer

Data Ingestion which includes collecting data from different sources that may be in different formats. Changing the raw data into structured data by different Data Transformation techniques. Data transformation techniques vary with factors like the source of data, the format of the data, and the type of output required.
Building a data pipeline in such a way that Performance Optimization is carried out and the system built is highly scalable and efficient. To sum up the responsibilities, we get the key points which are as follows:
● Design, build and monitor data pipelines.
● Integrate and convert raw data into structured data according to the requirements of the business.
● To improve performance, use automation tools to automate the tasks and optimize data-delivery.
● Create an architecture such that it ingests, transforms, and stores data for business requirements.

Skills Required:

To become a successful Data Engineer, you are required to inculcate some of the key skills which are mentioned below.
● Deep knowledge of Big Data tools such as HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System), YARN, MapReduce, PIG & HIVE, Oozie, and more.
● A clear understanding of techniques that are SQL-based such as MySQL in order to structure, edit and control the data stored in the repositories.
● Apart from structured data, you are required to deal with unstructured and semi-structured data as well. You need proper knowledge of NoSQL techniques like Cassandra and MongoDB for this.
● For data sensitive systems, the knowledge of a real-time processing framework is crucial.
Apart from these skills, the knowledge of data warehousing solutions, database architectures, and a clear understanding of operating systems like MS Windows, UNIX, Solaris, or Linux is a must.
