How do Grub Worms Damage Your Lawn?

You have a beautiful grassy lawn but one day you find some grub worms "scattered" in between the grass. You ignore it and a few weeks later it's too late. Your grass is suddenly damaged or even dead. That's a common scenario of how grub worms quietly infiltrate, and damage a grassy lawn at an astonishing rate.

This article presents four scenarios of how grub worms can ruin your beautiful lawn:

1. Grub worms tend to attract many animals

Of course to humans they are not attractive, they are pests! But to many birds, possums, and other animals they are a super tasty, protein-rich snack. Imagine several birds and weasels constantly visiting your lawn in search of grub worms. They will indirectly damage your lawn. Weasels can scavenge the soil, and birds can leave a lot of feces that are an eyesore. We haven't even talked about raccoons and skunks yet! There are many animals that love grub worms treats and if only they didn't ruin your lawn while they feast it would actually be okay. But that's not possible!

2. There are many kinds of larvae

The so-called grub worms actually consist of various species. June Beetles and Japanese Beetles are two of the most common and they really like to lay their eggs in between the grass. Once they lay eggs you will witness new grub worms in late spring and the cycle will repeat, over and over again.

3. Root damage

Grub worms can cause direct grassroots damage as they love to chew on grassroots. The result is that the grass will change color, from green to brownish, making it unsightly. You don't want to maintain a brown lawn behind your house!

4. Reduced roots mean loose soil

There is a close relationship between root reduction and increased soil looseness. Grassroots "grip" the soil and if the grassroots are reduced, the bond will get weaker and weaker until there is a chance that at some point the grass will be easily uprooted. Larval damage is one of the most common causes of grass pulling.

Experiencing one or more of the above problems? If your lawn is large enough, you may need to hire a professional pest eradication service. Today you can search for and hire the services of pest professionals easily. It's as easy as making a few clicks.

Controlling grub worms will stop and at least reduce the repetition of the larval hatching cycle that can cause serious problems for your lawn. If you intend to eradicate grub worms in your lawn, you should do it in early summer. You can also do it in the fall to reduce the risk of "mystery eggs" appearing in the middle of your grass.

Prevent the invasion of grub worms and you will reduce the risk of damage to your lawn. An invasion of grub worms is a common reason why your lawn turns brown in the beautiful spring season. You don't want that to happen and hiring a professional pest control service is highly recommended.
