How Attitude of Gratitude is Life Changer for You?

By Shivali Singla

“I wonder if this place is a small place or a big place to live”

In this same world, you get to see people who don’t have access to certain things still they are grateful to what they have and on the other hand you can see people who are blessed with a prosperous life and still they are disappointed. For us, this world is small, as we encountered two different kinds of people living different lives. This world is a big place for all of you who are disappointed in their lives.

If you are disappointed because of something you don’t have then you haven’t seen people who do exist in the same world and don’t have excess to the same thing and still, they have the Attitude of Gratitude.

Kristin Armstrong once said,

“When we focus on our Gratitude the tide of disappointment goes out and the tide of love rushes in.”

Disappointment brings along a bunch of problems like stress, anxiety, etc. And when you worry more about things you don’t have rather than being grateful for what you have, you tend to push yourself into depression. If you actually want to lessen your stress then you need to focus on things you have and feel content about it. Once you stop being discontented trust me life will be more blissful.

There was an incident which I can never forget, I want to share it with you all.

Once while coming back from my college, I was very hungry. So I decided to have some snacks. I went to a shop, there I saw a man yelling at the shopkeeper because he forgot to give him a pouch of ketchup with the burger. This guy was so annoyed that he threw those burgers and left the shop in anger, without even caring to pay.

While he was going, a kid with an innocent smile on his face, who barely had a cloth on his body approached him and said  “master I saw that your burgers fell on the floor and probably you would have asked for free burgers. I know that uncle is very rude. He never gives burgers free of cost. The way you were yelling at him I think you are hungry, so you can take mine, I just have one though. But please don’t be upset and smile.”

That little kid offered his one burger, which was his food for the entire day just because he couldn’t see someone being upset. After seeing that incident, I was awestruck and it actually changed my perception about many things. That kid who barely had a burger for his meal and a piece of cloth to cover half his body had a smile of satisfaction on his face and he even offered his mere meal because he couldn’t see someone being upset.

Why can’t you and I be grateful the way that kid is?

Just give it a try! you yourself will feel the change. There are people who are blessed with their basic requirements of life and also have access to luxuries despite having everything they find ways to be ungrateful. You must not be of one such kind. There are more than 20% of the world’s population that lacks adequate housing so be grateful that you have a shelter to live.

Some 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy life so be grateful that you get proper food to eat. There are 58 million children around the world who don’t have access to education. So if you have, take full advantage of it and consider it’s worth.

Be satisfied with what you have, being grateful and content will not cost anything but it will definitely change your life and life of people around you. The Attitude of Gratitude will make your life more happening and if you are happy then your Aura will be a positive one for people around you.

Every time when you get disappointed with not having a particular thing then count those things which you have and think about all those people who can’t even afford that. You must feel pleased with whatever you have. Once you start doing this D-lettered word disappointment will ultimately disappear from your life and you will be an example for people around you.

You have family, friends, relatives, etc. Respect them, take care of them acknowledge them for whatever they do for you each one of them who is a part of your life is a blessing for you but everyone on this earth has a family of friends if you have one don’t take them for granted and be grateful to them.

The Attitude of Gratitude can change your life and the people around you to a great extent. Words like upset, unhappy, sad, stressed, depressed, tensed, annoyed, discontented, etc. They will automatically get eradicated from your life.

“Be thankful for what you have you will end up having more if you concentrate on what you don’t have you will never have enough.”

You’ll become more positive and people around you will also stay positive along with you. The people around you will also change their perception about life and will have a Positive Attitude towards it. You will become an icon of inspiration for people around you and earn a whole lot of friends this in itself is a big achievement.

Life is like a kaleidoscope. At every perspective, it has something different to show you so if you are in happy with the one you just need to change your perspective that’s it. Once you do this you yourself will get to see the difference. If things aren’t going your ways, just have patience and change your Outlook towards it instead of getting disheartened.

In a nutshell, I just want to say that every new day is a blessing. So escape yourself from disappointment and live your life to its fullest, and foremost adopt the Attitude of Gratitude. Once you do this life will become easy for you and for the people around you. I’ll put my words to rest by quoting a line by Oprah Winfrey.
