Housewife arrested for beating nephew of her husband to death Police in Ogun arrested a woman for the unfortunate killing of the little nephew of her husband.

The Ogun State Police Command arrested a 47-year- old housewife, Joy Egeonu, on Wednesday for allegedly beating her husband's 11-year- old nephew to death. After accusing him of stealing N6,500, she allegedly killed the child.

The missing cash was later found to be taken by the husband of the suspect and not by the deceased, police said.

The command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was arrested after Ijeoma Egeonu, the mother of the deceased, reported.

Mrs Egeonu reported the matter in the headquarters of the Agbado division saying her son, Chibuke, who lived with her brother and his wife, was beaten to death for the alleged robbery of the suspect's N6,500.

She said the incident occurred on February 3 and then the suspect took the body to Ifo, where she buried it in a hurry.

"On the strength of the report, the DPO, Agbado Division, CSP Omonijo Olatunji led his detectives to the scene where the woman was promptly arrested," he said during an interrogation, the suspect said that after accusing him of stealing the cash, she flogged the boy to coma.

The spokesperson added the suspect said the boy died on his way to the hospital.

He said the suspect has taken detectives to where the boy was buried since then.

For further investigation, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department's homicide section.

The police boss also ordered the arrest of the husband of the suspect "who helped to bury the victim."
