Hotels of the International Hotel Group are “entering the metaverse” by offering NFTs with hotel stays and benefits. The NFT’s artwork was designed by Claire Luxton, a fascinating British modern artist.
The NFTs include a night’s stay in the forthcoming InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace and InterContinental Ambassador membership with perks like IHG One Rewards Platinum.
You can bid on them with points in an auction until December 9th. There will be a starting bid of 150,000 points.
The best explanation of NFTs was given by Saturday Night Live.
There was already a 92% reduction in NFT sales by the spring of this year. Michael Jordan has seen a 50% drop in his NFTs. Is it your firm belief that Justin Bieber’s NFTs Beliebers have abandoned him?
By offering discounted elite status in tandem with an NFT, IHG is essentially imitating Etihad’s lifestyle. Their NFT has a negative worth relative to their reputation. But they said they sold NFTs, making them trendy (but it was this past summer, so they were already late). At least American Airlines got in on the NFT action in February for their ConciergeKey members before it completely wrecked the company.
