I wasn't planning on visiting Singapore when my trip started, but after traveling for long distances in India, I decided to take things slow once I returned to Malaysia but the opportunity to visit Singapore again was something I couldn't pass up. The last time I visited Singapore was more than a year ago (2013 to be exact).
A Home Away from Home: Parc Sovereign Hotel Tyrwhitt
It was quite a walk from Lavender MRT to Parc Sovereign Hotel, but the hotel was worth the long walk because of its cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.
Bedroom
The bedroom was nice and cozy. The bed was soft and comfy, perfect for a good night's rest after exploring Singapore. The room had its own table, two chairs, cable TV, a refrigerator, a coffee maker, its own toilet and bath, and a safety deposit box. It was definitely unlike the hostel dorms I'm accustomed to. It's nice to relax in a comfy room every once in a while during a long trip. The room was cleaned regularly by housekeeping or upon request.
Verdict: 4.5/5
Facilities
Parc Sovereign Hotel has a swimming pool and lounge area at the rooftop. There were comfy sun loungers and artsy chairs to rest in after a day of exploring Singapore. There is also a small gym but it only had a handful of equipment for basic workouts.
Complimentary buffet breakfast was part of the booking. The breakfast was good and filling. Aside from the breakfast, I was unable to try the restaurant because I was out the entire day and just ate out before returning to my room. The restaurant had a good feel to it, cozy and homey, whenever I ate there.
Verdict: 4.5/5
Staff & Services
The staff was attentive and was willing to help whenever I needed assistance. They were willing to help with how to find attractions in the city and where I could book tickets.
Verdict: 4/5
Pricing
Let's face it, Singapore is an expensive city; it's one of the most expensive cities not just in Southeast Asia, but in the world. You're better off looking for value instead of price. Parc Sovereign Hotel offers value for the price you pay. If you're on a tight budget, there are hostel options, but if you are willing to pay more for better services and comforts, Parc Sovereign Hotel is a good option.
Verdict: 4/5
Would I recommend Parc Sovereign Hotel for your Singapore holiday?
Yes! Parc Sovereign Hotel is a good value hotel for your holiday in Singapore. The buffet breakfast was a definite plus for me.
